Give These a Read

Looking for a book that's harder hitting than a light beach read? We're currently reading Nightcrawling, the potent and dazzling debut novel by 20-year-old Oakland author, Leila Mottley. We haven't been this excited about a new author since Tommy Orange. And if you're a fan of quirky murder mysteries with an artsy bent give Other People's Clothes by Calla Henkel a try. It follows two unchic art school friends on their semester abroad in Berlin. They desperately try to reinvent themselves as enigmatic artists but then things go off the rails. Set in the '90s, the Amanda Knox story figures prominently.
